Enough. Forward, Not Backward
It is time to pay attention, speak up, and act.

It is time to pay attention, speak up, and act.

The Warrenton Town Council has seen a troubling return to “good ol’ boy” politics. This style of government dominated our town for 16 years under Mayor Fitch—and it must not be allowed to return. It is marked by cronyism, short-sighted decisions, political infighting, hidden budget overruns, policies that benefit a select few, and a vision for Warrenton that is out of touch.
And what do we have from this return to "Good Ol' Boy" Warrenton politics?
We have a dysfunctional Town Council that has given us:
Warrenton taxpayers and citizens deserve better.
It is time for a new era—one led by citizens with bold ideas, genuine patriotism, and a strong backbone for community purpose and civic responsibility.
It is time to end the rule of self-appointed Warrenton political “royalty.”
In 2026, the At-Large Town Council seats held by Paul Mooney and David McGuire are up for election.
Both entered office in 2022 without opposition.
Nobody ran against them.
They were the only names on the ballot.
They debated nobody.
The Town citizens had no competing visions.
Mooney and McGuire simply walked onto council.
Unfortunately, this has become the norm in Warrenton politics. But is that how small-town America is supposed to work?
These seats MATTER because they have the power of the VOTE. They vote on permits, resolutions, town codes and ordinances, budgets, and key leadership positions like Town Manager, Town Attorney and Police Chief.
The mayor, while important, has a vote only in limited situations.
This is a call to action for the citizens of Warrenton:
The future of Warrenton depends on competition—on ideas being challenged, leaders being tested, and voters being given real choices.
More names on the ballot.
More voices in the debate.
More accountability.
That is how Warrenton prospers.

Be prepared when you go to your mailbox after 24 January 2026.
Real estate assessments for tax bills on properties in Fauquier County are coming out 24 January 2026. These are new assessments from 4 years ago. Real estate values are up over 20% in Fauquier since 2022. This impacts properties in the Town of Warrenton as well.

We get DYSFUNCTION. Six of the seven current council members ran unopposed to get into office. We get witch hunts, no accountability, questionable ethics, wasting taxpayer funds, return to Warrenton "Good Ol Boy" politics and cronyism, and the broken promise of "open and transparent" government.
